Flebus digs the 50s!
We dig them so much we’re trying to digitize them.
OK, not all of them. Not now at least. For now, we’re building a next-generation index of magazine images.
We’re just getting started, but the Flebus index will eventually contain extensive metadata about advertisements and illustrations – products, taglines, colors, fonts, when and where they appeared, what articles appeared around them – that appeared in mainstream magazines between 1946 and 1964.
Someday this website will be a portal to the index, which we hope will grow beyond ads to warehouse all kinds of visual and cultural content from the 1950s. Until then, we’ll put up interesting links and pictures and news about our progress.
